Dr. Matthias Rupp

GenMat is building an end to end ecosystem of products that enables our clients to carry out AI-driven materials discovery all the way to raw material procurement using a quantum sensor fusion platform.
Senior Scientific Advisor

Matthias advises GenMat on machine-learning models for molecules and materials. After studying computer science, he obtained his Ph.D. in bioinformatics at the University of Frankfurt. He then worked as a postdoctoral researcher on cheminformatics at the Helmholtz center in Munich, machine learning at the Technical University of Berlin, computer-assisted drug design at ETH Zurich, and physical chemistry at the University of Basel. He led research groups on machine learning for materials at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society and at the University of Konstanz in Germany. He also worked in industry as Applied Scientist with Citrine Informatics, a start-up developing active learning for industrial materials discovery and optimization. He is currently a research group leader at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology.
